The reason behind this paper was to show the effectiveness of the varicella vaccine within the pediatric population. Additionally, this paper showed how more people were able to and did receive the vaccine as it became more available. Through this research, we understand that vaccines impact not only the individual receiving them but also others in the population for decades to come. Similarly, the more the vaccine became available, the greater the decline in the cases of people who experienced the herpes zoster virus This, in turn, has led to lower hospitalization rates among the pediatric population. The paper attached shows how important these vaccines are in preventing the spread of herpes zoster and the benefits of various regimes over others. As aforementioned, this paper compares various vaccine regimes and explains the difference it can make between two doses and one and how its recommended to have two. Lastly, this paper serves to promote education on why vaccines are impactful in preventing illness in the pediatric population which is such a vulnerable population and easily spreads diseases.
